rockin' the suburbs

i really really really really hate to get my hair cut. one time, when i was little, my mom was cutting my hair outside, and i was crying and shoving my hair-covered hands into my mouth, and screaming, "don't cut me!" while my mom was embarrassed and worried that someone was bound to call the cops any minute. nobody called the cops, and i still had to get a hair cut. anyway, the other day, mom suggested that we give me an interesting and extremely awesome style. i was a little bit embarrassed about all the attention that comes with having a mohawk, but i feel like in all, i rocked it out pretty nicely for a few days. now my hair is all buzzed off, but i think maybe every time i have to cut my hair, i'll sport a mohawk for a few days. it's a good time.

Explode!

I play tee ball now! my team is named the explosions, and my mom and dad and i think that is the very coolest name ever. i am number 5, and that's my dad's favorite number. they call it tee ball because you hit the ball off of a stick.
There are lots of rules in tee ball. Like, you can only hit the ball with your bat. and you have to wear a helmet. Also, you have to run when the kid behind you hits the ball, but sometimes i forget to pay attention to that. It helps to remember if you're not standing on first, facing the wrong way, celebrating. When you're on defense, you have to stand with your knees bent and be ready for grounders. You almost always throw the ball to first base if you get it. You do not throw the ball at the runner to get him out. You hustle on and off the field. You keep your eye on the ball. You don't give your teammates hugs; you give them knuckles. That's kind of a lot to remember, but i like it!
Oh, and also, the Explosions always win.

the cutest

today was mothers' day. in honor of today, i made my mom lots of presents. in school, i made her a handprint. my handprint is really big, and it took up the whole piece of plaster, pretty much. in sunday school today, i made her a flower out of tissue paper, and also a card. i am pretty good at cards. i don't even have to ask how to spell stuff anymore. she laughed when she read the card. i think she thought it was funny that it said, "dear lisa," and also that i said she was cute. then, bethy and i went shopping with my dad, and i picked her out a couple of books to read this summer. she's trying to read classics, so i got The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Wuthering Heights. then we found this card with a monkey and a puppy on the front, and dad let me write inside that one too. she read it at the restaurant (we took her to Joe's pizza and pasta), and she almost cried. my mom is silly. and, cute.

gardens

did you know that garden tools are good for stabbing the dirt and attacking every tree? they are. you can't swing them around next to people, though, or you get in trouble.

the easter beagle came!

last sunday, we got to celebrate easter. we do that because a long time ago, Jesus died and then he came back alive. for some reason, we dye easter eggs too, and the easter beagle hides them. i heard him barking and running through the house after i woke up from my nap. my dad let him out the window, and he ran off before i could get a good look at him. easter was a good time. i got to find eggs four different times. i keep getting better at finding more eggs. next year, i'll be an expert.

wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

we got a wii a while ago, but we didn't have any really good games until the other day. there was a big sale at target, and so we got star wars force unleashed, mario party8, and wii music. i LOVE those games. in force unleashed, you get to have lightsaber duels. it is pretty much a good time. i beat my mom, and i beat amber too. amber is staying with us while she has some job interviews. and amber and i made some awesome jams together on wii music. that is our album cover, with our miis on it, and there is a picture of us dancing and playing our instruments, too. mario party might be my favorite, but i get kind of cranky when i can't win first place. second place is not good enough.

i have big plans.

My dad told me that in heaven, wild animals just eat grass. They won't eat meat anymore.

So you know what I'm going to do when I get to heaven? I'm going to play tag with a bear.

age of dinosaurs

this is a conversation between my mom and i today:

me: when were the dinosaurs alive?

mom: a long, long time ago.

me: what year?

mom: well, i'm not really sure.

me: probably the 60s.

she laughed.

My cells can talk.

so, here are a couple of pictures of my sister and me from the other day, when we both had fevers. it was the weekend, though, so we couldn't go to the doctor. the day after this, i got a rash on my face, and then my neck and back and stomach and everywhere else. you get the idea. mom thought it looked like the heat rash i used to get a lot when i was pretty little. i was feeling a lot better on monday, and my throat didn't even hurt that much anymore, but i still had that rash all over. so, mom decided we should go see the doctor.

on the way to the doctor, i told my mom that i didn't think i was very sick anymore, because "my cells are killing the germs." i said that i thought there are only 10/30 germs left. mom asked how i knew this, and i told her it's because my cells told me. "they can talk. they send messages to my brain."
she was pretty happy to hear this. we went to the doctor, and he lifted up my shirt and said, "yep, that's the scarlet fever rash, from strep."... and my tongue was all white, and my throat was all red. so he told me to take some antibiotics, and i'll be okay in a couple days. i do feel a lot better.

i didn't give my sister strep, but she did have a couple ear infections. those are not my fault.

today, i think i only have 2/30 germs left. those cells are doing a good job. the antibodies are helping too. antibodies are kind of shaped like worms, and they're orange, with black lines around them. i read it in a book.

an ice storm

a couple weeks ago, it ICED. when it ICES, the lights go out.

when the lights go out, you can not:

watch TV. this includes anything that requires a TV, like the gamecube or DVDs.

take baths (this is fine with me.)

play on the computer.

open the fridge.

go to school (also mostly fine with me.)

when the lights go out you can:

have a sleepover with daddy, where you huddle under the covers and drink mt. dew and eat oreos. we did not invite mom and betty to this sleepover until the next morning.

light a bunch of candles.

play lots of board games! board games are not BORing, but i look bored in this picture. or is it board?

drive down to grandma and papa's, because they have electricity.

i am a photographer

so! remember how i told you we went to disney world a long time ago? all the way back in january, and now it's already february. we kind of got a little bit busy and distracted, especially when it iced. we couldn't even watch tv, much less update our blogs. it was annoying.

i really love disney world. i am hoping my dad sells a book so we can go back soon. like, next month. maybe if he sells enough books, we can live in disney world.

here are some pictures that i took. my mom let me have my own camera to take pictures with! now i want to take pictures for a living when i grow up. i am already pretty good at it, and things are really interesting when you look at them through a camera. i was especially good at catching mom and dad at great angles. here are a few of my favorites. some are a little avant garde.
