new stuff happening like crazy.

i look at my watch constantly, so i know what time it is, what day, and what date. i had been watching it for a while, waiting for school to start. and august 18th finally got here! that means it is time to go back to school. i like school a lot, and i had really been looking forward to it. i am in the orange class this year, and i think it will be pretty good. my teacher said i was really super tall and asked when my birthday was.

to celebrate the first day of school, we all went to eat at taco bueno (formerly known as "taco bee-ay-nee-o). dad asked me what i learned at school, and i told him i did not really learn anything. i only learn stuff in sunday school. so, we talked about what i learned in sunday school. God made everything, and he made adam and eve, and he made the animals, and he let adam name the animals. so my dad said, "that must have been neat! if you could name the animals, you could name a hippo a 'diarrhea dog,' if you wanted to!" i thought that was pretty funny. so i said that i would name a lion a "butt horse." mom tried not to spit out her water.

olympics

so, my mom is really into the olympics. she has me relay messages in to my dad, who does not watch the olympics that much. "sam! go tell daddy that michael phelps AND natalie coughlin AND aaron piersol all just won gold medals!" that is a lot to remember. so when i look confused, she says, "okay, tell daddy the swimmers just won three gold medals!" and so i run into the kitchen (that is where the computers are) and tell my dad. maybe someday they will give medals for running back and forth in your house, telling people things. if so, i will win gold, because i am already practicing. actually, i want to play baseball in the olympics when i am 41. that is what i told mom. she said maybe they will get it re-instated by then, whatever that means.

we watched the opening ceremonies at my grandma and pappy's house last day (friday), and they were pretty exciting and looked really neat on their gigantic new tv. mom took pictures of us in all our olympics-enjoying glory. we ate popcorn and hostess cupcakes and stayed up way too late. i ran around chanting "go USA, go USA!" i think that made mom happy.

dramatic

so, we have been dreaming lately about going back to disney world. we went right after i turned two. that is a long time ago. to put it in perspective, i was only a little older then than elisabeth is now. dad says if he sells a novel, we get to go for seven days. go dad!

anyway, tonight we were looking at pictures from our trip, which caused us to look up some animals we had taken pictures of at animal kingdom. and we ran across these videos on youtube. the first one is a tarsier, by the way, not a lemur. enjoy!

allergic to sharks

so, in the last couple of weeks, we have gotten to go visit some family, which is always a good time!

first, we went to my grandma and pappy's new house, to help them move in. my cousins came up, and we helped by deflating the bubble wrap. and by keeping my dad entertained.

the next week, we went down to see my grandpa. he has a boat and a four-wheeler, which he taught me how to steer, and how to read all the gauges on. he bought us some kool-aid koolers, so here are elisabeth and i doing a promotional spot for them. not really. we are not getting paid. but we do like kool-aid. grandpa let me steer the boat. and then i let him steer, while i did some dancing to the classic rock, just like i did last year (be sure to watch the video footage). dancing on a boat will always be the best. we like to swim a whole lot, even though the fish bit us. they tried to bite off grandpa's mole.

we also watched Jaws on TV while we were there. i did not really pay much attention, because i do not like sharks. i told my mom and grandpa that. and that i am allergic to sharks and chocolate.

camera

for as long as i can remember, my mom has been talking about some camera she wanted to buy. she finally got it. it came in the mail and was waiting for her when we got home from my grandpa's house.

later, she snuck in my room and took pictures of me sleeping. i guess her subject matter is a little bit limited at midnight. but she said she would not want her first pictures on her new camera to be of anything else.

another 4th of July

this year, the fourth of july was pretty fun again. i was not as scared of everything as i was last year, but eventually the noisy fireworks did get to me a little bit.

my dad and i went to buy fireworks from miss marsha and mr. justin, at my school, and they were pretty glad to see me. they are really nice, so i liked seeing them too. i picked out a tank and some party poppers and some parachute guys. dad picked out some big ones that were way too loud.

then we went to our friends darien and jadon and their mom and dad's house and ate food and ran through the sprinkler and jumped on the trampoline and set off fireworks. britney bought some really long sparklers that were pretty fun, and she let us kids all have one. mom had to run around by elisabeth, making sure she was not setting herself or someone on fire, but she had time to take a couple shots of me. i am very careful with the fireworks.

this is my friend avie. she will be four like me in august. today i told my mom that i am going to marry avie. she said, "wait, i thought you were going to marry kylee?" and i told her that no, i changed my mind. we will get married when avie is 44. mom said that is just fine with her.

i made this shirt. mom drew the letters, and i colored them. i also told her what i wanted the shirt to say. because really, my daddy is so cool. elisabeth helped with the shirt. mom did not want

her to, but i said it was okay. i told mom she was trying to draw me a tie. that is what it looks like, that purple line.

last day, we went to my grandma and papa's house to see them and also my aunt michelle and uncle jeff, who are visiting.

most of the day, i pretended to be a dog named spot. papa gave me the name spot. i guess he did not like my idea of "furry butt" very much. aunt michelle is going to have a baby boy in october, and she said that seeing how much energy i have makes her a little nervous.

i did stop for a minute to sit with papa on the porch. and i sniffed some flowers.

indiana

as i told you a few days ago, we went to indiana. we go there every year, but this year it was kind of crazy! there were storms and hail, and the power went off. this meant that we spent a lot of time driving around in the car, where there was air conditioning. my dad needs that. while we were out driving, a storm hit, and there was water on the road up to people's headlights in some places. mom and dad seemed kind of tense, but it was sort of exciting to me. then the water went down, and the weather cleared up, but the power was still off when we got back to the inn. it stayed off until the next afternoon. me and elisabeth took naps in our underwear, but we still sweated a lot.

on the way home, i helped my mom look for tornadoes out the window, after we got through st. louis. we heard after we got home that indiana flooded the day after we left. i am pretty interested in weather now.

these are some pictures from our trip. as it turns out, indiana is a good place to play Sam and Betty vs. Every Tree. and it is a good place to jump on the bed. it is also a good place to go to the mall. we saw noddy there. i used to watch him on TV before i got into power rangers and batman. i think mom was a lot more excited to see noddy than i was.

we went to indiana for a few days, and now we are home.
when we came home, mom spent way too much time making us look like the simpsons.

mom said that today is my half birthday. well, there you go. i am four and a half.

yesterday was Memorial Day. we went to the park and cooked out with our friends from missouri. mom told me to make the weirdest face i could. as if she really needs to prompt me to make a weird face.

this is me and elisabeth in the yard today. this activity is what i officially call "Me and Betty V.S. Every Tree." she says that V.S. stands for "versus," but i like to say "Vee Ess."

graduate

this weekend i went and graduated. this means i moved up from one class to the next. we had a big graduation at Ms. Marsha's church, and we sang songs and got certificates. i sang the loudest on "He's got the whole world in his hands," because mom and dad and grandma and papa said they heard me all the way at their seats. i sang it a little bit weird, and mom laughed. some kids in my class cried and wanted to get off the stage, but i did not. i like to be up there singing.

the other day, Ms. Marsha (she is like the principal) told my mom that next year she is going to put me in a class that really challenges me. whatever that means!

i had a lot of fun while my grandma and papa were here. they brought me this big bouncy see-saw thing, and they brought their dog Sugar, too. my papa has boots just like me, but mom did not get a picture of us in our boots. she did get a kinda dark picture of me and my teacher Ms. Paula.

we went to dollar general, and i just wore my power ranger socks and no shoes. me and my grandma were just going to wait in the car while papa went in and got coffee filters, but i got to go in and pick out a helicopter, and i slid up and down the aisles in my socks. my grandma said i could run really fast.

Happy Mothers' Day!

the other day, i went to the movies with my dad. we went to see speed racer on the day it opened, and it was really good. my favorite part was when they won the race before the last race. sorry, i hope i did not just spoil anything for anybody.

after the movie, we went to barnes and noble and picked out a present and a card for my mom for mothers' day. i listened to all the music cards, and i picked out this one. and i looked really hard at all the books, and i picked out this cookbook for making cookies. she opened it today, and she really liked it! she said we will make cookies together sometime this week. she also said that we are her best presents of all.

p.s. i am a good guy that saved the whole world. i am a ninja that is not bad. did you know that? that is what i just told mom. i have to go be ninjas with betty now.

today, it was pretty outside, and dad had just mowed the grass.

i took advantage of this time to teach elisabeth how to fight like a jedi. i fought Count Dooku while she watched my technique.

as you can see, i am a good teacher. she already knows how to dual wield her lightsabers.
