camping

last night we went on a campout. we went in the back yard, and someday we're going to go camping in the real woods. i helped set up the tent, and then this morning i helped take it down. we cooked burgers and made smores and stared at the campfire.

i'm not sure i like smores very well. mostly i like to eat the marshmallows (roasted) and the graham crackers separately. this one cracker i ate looked like minnesota.

reading in the tent is pretty fun. lately i've been reading this graphic novel called bone. once it made me have a bad dream, but usually that doesn't happen.

they're still a little bit too loud.

so, this year we went to our friends' house again, and i still think the fireworks are too loud. they're also kind of dangerous, because they can fall on you, out of the sky, and they can burn you. my mom kept trying to take my picture while i was doing a sparkler, and she kept getting way too close to the fire. i kept turing away from her and telling her not to get too close. i didn't have to wear the firing range ear phones, though, so that's good. maybe next year, we can get some roman candles, because those are my favorite. i had some fun swinging around a spent roman candle and pretending i was the king of the Chinese. they're the ones who make the fireworks, and i think they do an excellent job.
